if I open the passenger side window from the drivers side, the passenger side window swich light turns off until I let go of the button on the drivers side. Now if I press the driver side control for the passenger side up, then that button then turns off until I press it agian and it turns back on.

What on earths going on here!

haven't you small things to be worrying about. at least the window is opening and closing!

Do not just assume you have a wiring fault, without getting other people with the same car to see if theirs do that as well. Some e/w switches are designed this way, some passenger side switch wires will connect to the driver side switch and will use an earth which is only 'connected' when the driver side switch is in 'neutral'. When the driver side button is pressed to the 'lower' position, the earth for the passenger side switch is 'broken', and thus causing your light to go out. Switches are designed this way to enable a standard switch to be used in single or multi switch systems, and will also prevent short circuits and damage if both switches are used at the same time.

Mine does the same, I guess it's meant to be like that. Light goes out on the passenger side when you put the window down, but only dims when you put the window up.

cheers for checking helz, So its not just me then :)
I only noticed it as it cought my eye last night when I had opened the window to clear the dew off it.
Although the driver side switch is ok now, it isnt blinking and turning off now.

You know, as soon as I typed, what on earth is going on, at that point, I did wonder, is it a bad earth! Although it seems it is normal after all now

Mine does the same.

And according to the diagram it doesn't get a constant earth and +12V all the time. When you move the switch on "42" down then the LED gets +12V on both sides.

not as it really matters, but look again at the switch, when you press down the top wire to the light has no connection, not 2 +ve.

Hmm... Switch/light 46 always has +12V from "R" and gets Earth from "O". When the switch on 42 is flipped up (don't know why i wrote down before) then "O" becomes +12V (and R/G stays Earth). The light will then have 2 x 12V.

Yes i know its a old thread but its been niggling at me:rolleyes:

Right pass side elec window illumination does switch off when operated(downwards) from drivers side but should stay on if operated from drivers side(upwards) if it dims it's just the elec motor drawing curret, any other combination then its likely the internal diode has blown....common apparently?

There I can sleep better now:)

I really want the brava's electricla diagrams, all of them.... These cars seem to have lots and lots of electrical problems........I wanna know what's going on. Can please anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanxall.

driver side controls, for the Pass control sometimes doesnt light up anymore here. Can sometimes get it back by pressing the button up a few times, but it can just flicker off and on.
