General Wiring A Punto Stereo To Ignition Using ISO/fuel gauge issue

Bought a new jvc stereo, thinking it would be plug and play but no... managed to figure out that the wiring was all over and changed the red and yellow wires over on the loom which seemed to work, well the stereo did!!!!! tried to start car and wouldn't fire up realised the petrol gage wasn't registering????? unplugged stereo so now my car works but has no stereo... its a 53 plate model can anyone help thanks....

The wiring must be shorting out other systems some how. The punto doesn't have an ignition live, only a perminant live (red wire.) Not sure how you had it wired, but wiring the yellow and red from the headunit to the single red from the car should work.
