So... I'm trying to order a starter motor on ebay, and the dealer is asking for some details. I ordered one for the twinair 312 A2.000 0.9 litre (07- 2010-present) £122.46 but they seem to think I need a twinair 199 B6.000 0.9 litre (12- 2013-present) £199.91.

My first thought being a trusting sole, was 'of course I do' (thinking they saw me coming), but it got me thinking, which one do I really need. One of the questions they asked was has it got stop/start. To which replied yes, which got me thinking, maybe I do need the better/dearer one? How the hell do I know?

Reg doc says vehicle is 312AXG1A08C

Any thoughts peeps?

Fiat cars can be defined by project number so 312 is the fiat 500. 188 is the older mk2 punto 319 the most recent panda.

Those models numbers would tend to imply that one is for the fiat 500 and the other is for a late model (199) fiat punto

That being said it may still be the right part. The first and most obvious question is, what model year is your fiat 500?

If you go on websites like eurocarpart, GSF etc and you put your car reg in, it will then give you the correct part for your car

I maybe that being a later model 500 with a twinair engine, it shared parts with the late model puntos with a twinair engine. There is no point in having two part numbers for the same part
