Hi What's exactrly different about the fire engines to the normal one. I have a fiat Uno 1.0 i.e I don't think it's a fire engine, but i'm intrigued as to the differences.

Check if you have a rubber square Oil filler cap – If so, you have the FIRE.

Before the re-badge to 1.0 IE, the Uno 45 was available in 903 (OHV) or 999 (OHC) FIRE – both were carburettor versions. I reckon all 1.0IE unos are FIRE.

The non-fire was a 0.9 lol.

A good article on the FIRE engine is at http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/ajwebster/eng.html and this is a list (from a Polish site) of the FIRE variants:

Very old post but I need to clear this up. THE ENGINE WITH THE RUBBER FILLER IS THE NONE FIRE ENGINE, THE FIRE ENGINE LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE TURBO WITH A ROUND SCREW IN OUL CAP, THE TIMING COVER IS YELLOW AND THE ROCKER COVER IS SLOPING DOWN WARD.

This is NOT a Fire engine.

Me too..given I had both this engine in my Uno and the spi 1108 in the mk1 Punto both had the same rubber bung.

First fire I had with an actual cap was a 1.2 16v..

I don't want to step on toes but ......I had a 999c fire engined 1988year panda that looked exactly like the photo - bar the aftermarket looking fuel pump and breakerless distributor.
