There lies the rub...this is not a clamp down, the speed van doesn't come out after dusk, or in bad weather or early morning. He can't stop dangerous vehicles that are complying with the speed limit, people on their phone, people with no tax or insurance, people who are drunk if they are doing 29mph...
As a method of enforcement it's a poor joke, especially as it doesn't even stop the undesired behaviour on the day if it is hidden. I'm sure you'll be sitting there thinking "ah but that is the job of the traffic police" and you would be right except of course it has been months since I've seen a traffic car up here, in fact they only seem to come up this way to attend RTCs..perhaps if they were up here more often they'd have fewer to attend.
And Dave that story does not surprise me at all.
