Last Thursday I got the Water in Fuel FIlter message on startup - I put it down to the sub-zero temperatures... it didn;t happen again until yeterday and has done it again today.
I'm going to get the car serviced soon - is it safe to leave it as is for a couple of weeks, or is there some quick drain procedure or something?
Also, could this be linked to the "Engine Fault" light that only started last week?

It can be drained by unscrewing the drain cap on the bottom of the fuel filter.

Disconnect the water sensor connector, then unscrew the cap 1 or 2 turns until water/fuel comes out. I use an old spray can lid, or similar, to catch it with.

Not a good idea to leave it, water in the fuel can cause the pump and injectors to rust inside.

If water in the fuel was your problem last week, you would have got the water in fuel warning then.

Picked up a fuel filter for 6.90 off ebay - so added to the air and oil filters, my total parts spend for the service is 15.50 - so I'll now get my mechanic to fit them all, he'll supply the oil...
