General Too Expensive?

My Fiat 500 Pop is not turning over. Flashing engine light… service center said I need to replace the crankshaft position sensor and tone ring.

They also said they would have to drop the transmission.

Parts: $395.00
Labor: $2646.00
Tax: $35.10

Is this what you would expect to pay, or is this outlandish?

I would want to see the error code first, if it was a Fiat dealer you would hope they diagnosed the fault correctly, but I would want a lot mor information to confirm fault before opening my wallet.
If you can have the fault codes read , there are many on the Forum who will give a guide.

Did problem occur after work done on engine or out of the blue?

It just started out of the blue.
It’s petrol. I guess it’s 1400cc (1.4 L)
