You can always rely on ahmett for an opinion!
that means you don't drive fast enough. at 80 mph which feels much more comfortable in many other cars, i really get annoyed with the fiat.Pure misery?
Grief! That's a bit strong!
I think ours is pure fun at any speed.
I always have a smile on my face when I'm driving ours.
Drag coefficient?
I couldn't care one way or another. I get 50odd mpg and the car is zero VED rated too. What's not to like or to be miserable about?
Fun all the way with a 500TA.
Mick.
You do know that 80mph is illegal in UK?
Not sure, but it's illegal in most countries in the world.
anything above 50 mph is pure misery in a Fiat 500
Why drive 80 mph if you find anything above 50 mph pure misery? Is that some kind of masochism?at 80 mph which feels much more comfortable in many other cars, i really get annoyed with the fiat.

But seriously, what causes the misery and the annoyance?
Bad mpg on uphill roads are normal, but any uphill road will eventually be followed by a downhill road (unless you are on your way to the Almighty) and then you will see much better mpg than on a flat road.
haha yes that rev limiter on the TA is really miserable as well = ) you reach max power at 6,000 then the engine literally dies on you. at least with the 1.4 you reach max power at 6,000 then until 7,000 you feel the power slowly slowly going away then at 7,250 you hit the fuel cutoff! it gives you notice, the TA just kills you straight up haha. The TA engines don't sound so revvy because, being a twin cylinder, there is only one firing per revolution. A 4-cylinder engine fires twice per rev. This caught me out a few times when I first got mine, and brushed the rev limiter a couple of times in second and third gear. I certainly wouldn't agree that it"s "pure misery" above 50mph. Sure, it's not as refined as a bigger car, but no worse than (usually larger) superminis I've driven.
i guess i am being spoilt now but if you spend 13,000 GBP on a car you would expect more refinement. this goes with what many people say, if you compare the fiat to a 9,000 GBP car its excellent but for 13,000 GBP for a decent one you'd expect more. The TA engines don't sound so revvy because, being a twin cylinder, there is only one firing per revolution. As far as I know maximum power is at 5500 rpm. At 6000 rpm the engine lets you know by "dying" that it's time to awake and shift gear.haha yes that rev limiter on the TA is really miserable as well = ) you reach max power at 6,000 then the engine literally dies on you.

P.S. I have the impression that there are no days in your life without FIAT 500 bashing...
What i do know is anything above 50 mph is pure misery in a Fiat 500 = ) anything below much nicer = )
Sorry 79. They don't prosecute you at up to 79 no? So in UK I just do 80 the whole time on the motorway when road traffic allows as I know that the indicated speed on the speedo is always a bit higher than actual speed
