Stage 2
removed the head. intake manifold exhaust manifold and turbocharger, as you will possibly see in the pics i have a reasonably new turbo(y)(COST A BIT),the head gaskett is absolutley knackered (F###ED) ,if u look close u can see how out of shape the gaskett is. you can also see the piston heads, (there is quite a bit of play in them) the pistons actually rock slightly wich luckily has not made the bore oval, but the rings are worn wich allows the gasses to push past causing pressure build up in the bottom end :((this is known as blow by) ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!:slayer:

I do not recomend those who live with parents or are married to do the following bit, it WILL upset some lol(y) heres all the intercooler pipes and the dumpvalve in the DISHWASHER :) Brilliant job it made of cleaning the parts as they had got oil inside due to breather pushing oil into air intake

There ya go all four pistons removed ,from the pics u cant tell that the rings a buggered ,but trust me they are, and oh dear as u can see in the other pic that number 4 piston is actually boke!!!:bang: now not only do i have to replace all rings and shell bearings i have to replace a piston :( oh well these things are sent o try us , ill post some more up when i get the replacement parts , it seems the order list is getting bigger as i have noticed the oil strainer as broken off the oil pump , now im not too sure how important the strainer is it just stops any large pieces getting sucked into the oil pump so as im wondering weather or not to get a new one?? or cover and put a metal gauze on the inlet wich should work fine !!!the oil pump is running fine and it seems like the part has been broken a long while any comments (sensible ones) welcome
P.S ill put some pics of oil pump and strainer up 2 moz

the oil strainer thing will do two things.

1 - gather oil from the most appropriate area of the sump - im guessing the middle. this would mean minimal oil starvation.
2 - the larger area of the strainer versus the bore size is to allow for the lower flow rate through the strainer. This means that the mesh (or gauze or whatever it is) doesnt hinder the flow of oil in any way.

Of course what i just said has been pulled from the theory bucket of my arse :p

But I would definitely replace it. Or have something similar rigged up.

Righty ho people im now waiting for parts to come so ill post up when they do ...
on my order list

1 new piston
full set of rings
full set shell bearings
engine gaskett set
cam belt
oil pump with strainer!!
oil filter
sump gaskett sealant
