So it happened again today.
Check engine light flashing and the car was misfiring a couple of miles from home. Not wanting to be stranded I head back home, stop the car, restart the car and the check engine light has stopped flashing and the car runs fine, no misfire.

This is the 2nd time it's happened and I'm too skint to have a garage check it over. Both times it's happened in the wet, any ideas?

You could buy an OBD2 code reader online for £5 to £10 (UK). You will need a smartphone with an app for the Bluetooth type or a suitable laptop for the USB type. You can then read the error codes which will give a clue as to whats causing it.
I had the same problem with my older Panda. It was doing some odd missing without the engine light. It only put the engine light on when it got really bad. I think it was a dodgy HT lead or maybe the spark plugs that was causing it. Best check the error codes first though.
