So I have been down to Vospers, test driven another 1.4 engine and this one does indeed have the ticking noise as well which according to them you only get with this model
I said to him that I was amazed that nobody else has touched up on this as it is not the quietest of noises and wanted to try a different engine size to see if there was an issue with that but they did not have another demo model to try, however whilst we were out driving the other car which was literally around the block (less than 5 minutes) apparently Fiat had phoned them asking them to drain the gearbox and see if that resolved it.
Se we now have basically something that is supposedly a characteristic of this engine size yet the guy at Vospers said they still have no idea what it is and if Fiat did contact them why are they still looking into it and trying to figure out the issue
I have now driven away in a 500L twinair Lounge, which does not have any ticking sound from it.
I cannot really fault the car itself other than this issue and am contemplating on just refusing this one and getting a different engine size, but will wait and see what Vospers come back with.
One question though if anybody has a Twinair, does the car feel like it vibrates quite a lot when sat idling? this one feels quite shakey with not many miles on the clock
