Sixth Form Parking Issues :(

Sixth Form Parking Issues :(

Its been said already but the simple answer to all of this is:

WALK
CYCLE
GET PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Choose from one of the above. Problem solved.

Stop whining and realise that we dont always get our own way or what we want. Thats life.

It's time to realise the world is against you ;) which unfortunatly is all part of becoming an adult, which sucks, but as adults we suck it up and make decisions based on what life or the "establishment" throws at us.

The office I work in has a carpark but I am not authorised to use it, I have two options fight the establishment which gives me a job and find myself having a hard time in work or getting sacked for breaking company rules and polices, or park a mile away and walk.

Get over it - park down the road, I love my cars almost as much as life itself, but I have to park in a very dodgy area - the joys of having the job I have which pays for my cars.

On an aside, many modern new school are designed so their car parks don;t have enough parking spaces for even the school staff, its a council thing to get more people to car share, or use public transport.

As to parking for students at a school, well, how did they get to school before they grew up enough to get a driving license? By foot, bike, bus? Go back to it!

Teaching staff in schools, of which I am one, carry a lot of stuff home at night, often a laptop computer, plus books, plus papers, plus subject specific stuff. Me thinks they should get priority over children! Lets be fair, most secondary schools take kids from a maximum of 1.5 miles in large cities, 2 miles in smaller cities, and 4 miles in the 'burbs. Only time that students 'need' a car is if they are having to travel out of their local school zone for specialist teaching (e.g. local school doesn't offer the subject/course the student requests) or they live out in the sticks and travel miles to school. In such circumstances, local authorities cover all, or the majority, of travel costs.

VERY annoying when they do this anywhere! it just forces parking problems on surrounding areas, and doesn't really encourage sharing or public transport use.

When i went to sixth form i had to travel 7 miles each way, to a school in a "rural" area. transport costs were actually cheaper for me to drive (excluding insurance!) and take a friend to cover half the fuel cost than to take the 'school coach'. and i can assure you virtually all travel costs weren't covered by the local authority the EMA scheme was for those costs but they didn't cover it, yet people within walking distance of the school are able to take a council payed for bus to the school!

It seems to me that perhaps things are the wrong way round here. The organisation I work for has joined the Government's scheme that purports to get people cycling to work.

So we have workers cycling to save the planet while students drive and kill it. Not only that but they want the education system to pay for a new car park. I'm quite sure you're school can afford to lose about £100K from its budget.

at our college there is quite a large car park... with the only spaces reserved for the college head and two visitors....

i once parked in the main car park where the spaces are reasonably wide and also quite lengthy.... until i saw quite a few cars dented and scraped by students with there bags full of books/sports bags/clumsiness or even some poor parking skills etc.

after about my 4th time driving in i aimed to park, and always got there early to park in the few end spaces there is where it narrows etc... which are like 3ft wider then normal (not enough room for another space)... and that goes onto grass after that with plant pots etc...

i once parked in the old basketball court along with others... which after 20 minutes of being there i was soon out moving my car when i heard a football being thrown around!
