I have just replaced the rear trailing arm on my sons 1997 Punto , i torqued the pivot bolt up to 111 lb ft as stated in the manual , is this correct ? as it seems high for what is essentially 2 taper roller bearings . Can some one please confirm this is correct.

If there is a spacer tube between the bearings all it needs is enough torque to stop the bolts coming loose. If the tube is compressed the bearings will get crushed.

Looking at the old one its a plastic spacer tube which could compress if over tightened ! Thats why im asking for advice !!
