General Punto With Hayabusa Power ....

He probably ran out of money and time. These things cost a fortune and souping up an already souped up engine cost F1** type money.

**OK, maybe not that much but still a mortgage or two.

he might have been a multi millionaire with too much time on his hands?? so money and time not and issue:p

its moted and taxed now ........... needs a lot of testing .... but eats subarus and evos..

so its not been crashed and now needs paint to finish ..... dont ask the colour ..

its doing 0-60 in 4.2 seconds ...... wowwwwwww

its been hard work ,,,,,,, but took time out to finish another project .....

videos to follow .......... SOUNDS THE DOGS .... 10,000 VIEWS .... WOW ...

KEEP THE COMENTS COMING ...... AND THANKS .....

Absolutely!!! Serious respect and I'm envious for your time (and money) to do this project. It really wont have been easy about the only Punto stuff in there is the body shell and glass. Its serious engineering and such top totty. :D

The gearshift on these things has to be (one of) the best features - full sequential action and shifts up without the clutch. Just a tad noisy bet what the heck. :)

Going a bit(?) off topic -
When you get bored with it have a read of the Rolls Royce Heritage book about the Crecy engine and the ideas they had to follow which never got done. The nasty jets came along and blew away all the piston engine ideas.

Their out of the box thinker was Stuart Tresilian
http://www.designchambers.com/wolfhound/TresilianCV.htm

Then there was Henry Ricardo who was more of a development guy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Ricardo#Aircraft_engines

How about building a blown and turbo charged 2 stroke that's set in a radial 4 cylinder format with all four rods on one crank pin (or 8 pots on 2 crank pins, etc). the arrangement gives a perfect primary balance and 4 bangs per rev. The crank would be a dry sump lubrication and there would be no crank compression like a normal stroker so none of the pumping losses, pollution and rough running. No cams no poppet valves cylinder heads with spark plug and injector but nothing more. It could even be started with compressed are so the starter motor and heavy battery can be junked.

Its been done recently as a diesel aero but Stuart Tresilian suggested the idea back in the mid 1940's. RR ignored him and he went off to Formula 1 racing.

A little (further) off topic -
This guy is also worth checking out Walter Kaaden
[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Kaaden"]Walter Kaaden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

He worked on the Junkers/Messerschmitt jet engines so understood gas dynamics. He invented the 2 stroke expansion chamber that uses sonic shock waves to supercharge the engine. Check out the powers he was getting and then check out the dates it was happening.

tried to keep the punto standard looking ...... but may go the abarth body kit ....

who produces this kit .... fibre glass or carbon

is it called a s2000 kit ,,,,,,,,

think more fun ..... standard looking .....

so lets see ........ i also need a name for it ......

give us some help ......

and lessons in typing .... .... :):):):):)

thanks for link ........... whitesei ...................

No worries I find engineering history amazingly interesting especially as almost everything has been done before (oops I wasnt meaning Hyabusa puntos).

How about "Puntabusa"

Or "Abus yer Punto" ;D

How's the front/rear weight balance. have you needed to mod the front suspension geometry to take out the front wheel drive features?

Deffo keep it looking standard and NOOO!! to the body kits. Abarth maybe and splitters but keep it subtle.

About 200bhp out of the box. A turbo and (VERY) deep pockets can go well over 300bhp.
Nah - wont. Read the stuff below.

Check out the reference list.

Other bike engines can be used as the 'Busa has become silly costly. The Honda Blackbird has similar power. Someone has even made a 2.6 litre 'Busa V8 with special crank case and two cylinder blocks!!!
http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2007/07/05/hayabusa-v8-grows-up-28-liter-455bhp/

Ideally for use in cars on the road, bike engines need a 2 speed axle. High range keeps the revs below the power band in normal use. Low range lets it rev & the horses happen. But again costs are £Mega.

They also need a different driving technique. Its a sequential shift pattern and there is no synchromesh so you MUST blip on down shifts. You also dont use the clutch on upshifts. Preload the gearlever for the next cog and dip the the throttle for a split second. The next gear snicks in. Fab when its done right not quite so hot when you dont. Great fun but a pain on a shopping run.

I have a shaft drive Yamaha. No-where near the power of a 'Busa but with its direct power connection to the road the gears have to be used just right. Shifting slow or carefully is about the most destructive thing you can do to a bike box.

hi punto nuts .....

going to post more photos ....................(y)

got to start painting car soon ...... ....

inside first painting the cage ..... and centre bulk head

and make the skid pan for the underside ......

has anyone got some big front brakes ... to fit inside
15 inch wheels ........ i got big brembos off a fiat coupe 2000cc ..... but they need 16 inch wheels ... but dont like tyre size on 16 inch .... after market calipers and discs ......................

thanks ................(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

as any one got any

Mareas should be good n easy to fit.

In the future, go for some mega brakes with ABS - its deffo not going to be short on performance
