General Punto mk1 - alpine HU

Anyone had problems with alpine head units skipping? My MK1 skips with the slightest deviation in the road.. Made a thread in ICE if anyone wants more info, just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

In my old mk1 I had a panassonic HU and that skipped with every manhole cover etc......

Origional disks and copies I made at high speed or on cheap disks all skipped.

I had to burn them at a slower speed and use verbatim disks for it to work.

Without seeming offensive, is it a decent alpine HU or a budgt thing, certain budget hu's don't have any suspension built into the disk holder so any bumps can cause a skip.

never ever had a problem with any cd players in any mk1 punto.

and iv had alot of cd players in alot of mk1 puntos

My Sporting doesn't skip any CDs, but then the player is a Pioneer. Is your punto lowered?

To the first post, no it isn't, I payed 259.99, with subout port and 2xrca outputs. Checked the bak of it out before and the cd player is loose in the centre console bit, al duck tape n see what that does, if not al try the cd technique! I deffo aint buyin a new cd player. It aint lowered but I am looking at getting it probably 35mm

IIRC some people relocated their HU's to a slot lower down in their centre console to stop this happening, depends on which centre console you have though.

I totally agree, saves money on disks etc......
