Afternoon everyone,
Am hoping someone may be able to assist with this!
Basically our car has given off a high-pitched, piercing alarm sound on three separate occasions now. The first two happened about 3 weeks ago and lasted for about 5 seconds when it was dark and most of the electrics were on. It happened again today and lasted for approx 15 secs, but none of the electrics were on at all.
The best way I can describe it is that it sounds a bit like a constant warning alarm if you leave your lights on after switching the engine off and then open the driver/passenger door. However, as us 500 drivers will know, the lights automatically go off once the key is removed - so I don't suppose it's that!
The noise appears to be coming from the boot area, although to be honest it is so high-pitched that it really it hard to pin-point where it's coming from. Perhaps it might be coming from the speakers?
As a further note, there are no warning lights displayed on the dash, nor are there any messages popping up on the trip computer either. Our car doesn't have the rear parking sensor either. So on that basis there doesn't appear to be anything noticeably wrong with the car.
I'm assuming there's a loose connection somewhere, but I have no idea what it might be!
Thoughts and suggestions?
Edit: Further to the above, the sound is even more high-pitched than the squeal when you start moving and the driver/passenger seatbelt isn't fastened. But it's that constant high pitch if you know what I mean.
