The symptom certainly points to the water pump. If you do need to replace it I recommend you renew the cambelt and tensioner at the same time, unless you know it's been done recently. A cambelt kit is about £25 here so not a great additional expense.

Yeah that's what I thought also, except the guy I bought the Panda off said the cambelt and water pump were changed only 1000kms ago.

So maybe the person who changed it didn't fit it / seal it properly?

One of the reasons I bought the car was because this was recently done. But maybe it wasn't. Will get the mechanic to inspect it and give me an opinion.

My number plate starts with "OF97" and most people think its white. Might have been me!
