need new gear box

my gear box on my w reg punto has just gone (only 38000miles) is this normal and can anyone tell me how much i should pay for a new one fitted.

I hear of them going a lot, seen two on a Punto explode right befor my very eyes.

Try a Scrap yard might be able to pick one up for £200.

There is a place that might be able to supply and fit you a reconditioned one for £400

if you ring about you'll easily get a box for £75-100 from breakers/scrapyards with 1 month warranty. fitting is £100 at most local garages. i did the box on my bravo last month, cost me £175 all together.

for a new one at fiat its about £174,633.91 plus vat and magic tax. and thats without fitting.
