Introduction

Meet Bumble bee
replacing my beloved but now scrapped Mk2 Blue punto

Needs some bits doing to it - but i never leave cars alone anyway :)

So here he is
2004 on a 53 plate
58K
Yellow Active Sport (8v engine)
Alloys - nice grey interior and generally nice tidy motor that needs a little more tlc to make him better :)

Dealer 4 (no plate).jpg

So what has been done so far? Well its got a fairly new backbox - but middle pipe went, replaced under its warrenty

Given him a darn good clean and wash, but lasts all of 5 mins been yellow :(

Pulled all the roof gutter seals out and cleaned the rubbish out from there
Also had the windows screen trim rubber and cleaned all around there :)

what i wanna do is get everything cleaned up, tidy alot up
add a few features i want back in :)

But here we go :)

So i did the roof gutters - they were really really ready.... which means all the cack runs down the rear lights.....

So out they come

In other news my gearbox isnt happy thats most certainly dying now... ffs....

Well the gearbox noise had started to get much louder, time to throw it in

After speaking with the specialist about the current problems i had with excessive noise, he was pretty sure a gear had dropped a tooth edge or somethings damaged the teeth, well it was bad enough i had it exchanged (AGAIN)

So £240 for replacement gearbox
£75 pounds on a Brand New LUK clutch, 2L of Gearbox oil and some clutch lubricant *proper LUK clutch lube!*

Ive got a friggin sharp pedal, a super quiet and smooth and easy pedal (watch me stall it)
A smooth and quiet gearbox, and best of all - NO LEAKS!!

I'll pop a link to the repair blog here as i dont see point posting images twice

As promised - here is the blog link for it!

http://bbautorepairs.wordpress.com/2014/11/07/diagnosis-12-noisey-gearbox/

And on another note

Today - 9/11/14
Clutch and gearbox have turnd 110miles old Fitted on the 3rd of Novemeber

its just shy of been 1 week old
Was all lovely and smooth till today

Rev's climbed sky high, and no increase in speed
Yup! Clutch is slipping! Once it slips once, the oil is spread and Hey presto
My brand new setup is RUINED

The gearbox people are seriously gonna be having a nice person on the phone, as i dont see why i should have to pay for YET ANOTHER clutch

So the log so far
Brought car 2012 March, (log of a clutch like 7k before i got it) New box and clutch then as once brought with car was very noisey

Fitted a new clutch and gearbox at 72K 2y/old because gearbox had gone noisey, fitted new clutch because while i was in there - its best too

110miles later, Clutch contaminated and ruined, and gearbox with input seal like

So thats a total of 3 gearboxes ive done on it, and 3clutchs (4 that i know of)
To say im somewhat p****** off is somewhat an understatement, and its the final straw for the punto
No more punto's for me

I'know how you feel mate :(
the gearbox on my new motor imploded after less than 500miles,
for a 2 and half grandmotor iwas pretty miffed,
its not just fiats its pugs too, (weak gearboxes )

igot my gearbox sorted by a pro for 120 notes but then new luk clutch kit and price of fitting /plus oil, it soon adds up.

go in and see them, sometimes they respond better when a disgruntled customer is on site .

Well as you may well know on the 19th Nov 2014 i was rear ended slightly as a bus cut me up - i ancored on, the car behind couldnt stop as quick as me and hit me

The damage is only to the rear bumper
but because its a sporting bumper setup - its expensive, as well as been a horrible colour to match due to fade

The impact has caused stress marks all over the bumper - as a result - its having to be replaced

The cracking is in such an akward place they deam it easier and cheaper in the long run to just replace as well

Its bent the under holding bracket as well :(

Due to the costing of it all - its had to go through insurance, as i couldnt find a matching one in the same colour local to me

The car has gone in to be inspected to deam the devils work - i just hope its not done damage else where - i cant see any deformation except the bumper

-------------------------------------

And i was asked by somebody how much the alloys weight for the punto
Well here we are

Just the alloy
No valve
No center cap
Bit of masking tape on the inside
8.6kg
20141125_124635.jpg

An Alloy with center cap - valve - dirt - and a like new 185/55/15 Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyre
weighing in at 15.5kg

mine was hit a couple of years back while my other half was driving, it was just the back bumper no damage underneath and they just replaced it and repainted it, don't expect genuine parts though even the 'genuine' bumpers fiat are now supplying are not 'genuine' , so they had a little trouble lining it up 100% but they got it in the end

i'll just send it back to them - as it'll have a 5 year guarantee on all repairs :)
