General Little Ava has found a new home

Hi all, after being the custodian of Little Ava over the past few years, as I write she is on her way to the far north of Scotland north of Aberdeen, hope she enjoys the fresh weather up their. Once again I would like to thank everyone for the invaluable help everyone on the forum has given.. I have not given up with Fiat as I have now gone modern & bought an Abarth 50th Aniversario to play with. I have to say the Abarth section of the forum is not as as enthusiastic as the classic 500 is,

I wish you all the best with your new purchase---It will sure put a smile on you face! But be warned (and this from personal experience---dad has had to temporarily bank-roll the replacement car for daughter) the Abarth family of cars is one of the most nicked. My daughter also had an " Anniversary" edition, for just 3 months, and it was nicked from her drive, in just 40 seconds (watched on neighbour's security camera) FROM HER DRIVE! If it possible to put an additional security/cut-out switch on the car, I would highly recommend it. It would seem that neferious parts department staff had supplied the thieves with new, matching keys---it was a case of jump in and drive off----she was NOT pleased! (and THAT'S putting it mildly!!!) As her version had various 'anniverary' badges on it, it was not going to be easy for the theives to sell 'as a car', so they stripped it for parts---the police found a few, but not enough to put it back together for her.

Nasty little F&*Kers. So, some options to retain your pride and joy. Get a Ghost system installed, have a google. Or, much cheaper option, get a couple of Apple air tags and hide them in the car. Can then track on your phone.

Hi very interesting response & certainly something I will take on board by fitting a couple of security systems. The strange thing is I looked on a website “how many cars left” The model I bought there were only 50 R/H drive models made , but there are now only 30 + left on the road. so the missing cars I would think are the ones that have been stolen or written off. There is obviously a pattern here for me, In the 80s I bought a new White Escort Turbo ( now worth a small fortune), I owned for it 3 months from new , it was stolen from a Bedford council car park and found a week later in a field written off by joy riders, then my wife had a pearl white Renault 5 Turbo she had it 6 month and it went in for something or other to the garage, we couldn't believe it the car was stolen from the garage & we never saw it again. So Yes there are some real B**t**rds out there when it comes to hot hatches.
Had you not mentioned it The Hobbler I wouldn’t have thought any more about it. It’s very easy to get complacent over the years, until you said it. So many thanks for your advice. Barry.

Wow---that is a VERY '80s' picture--the flares, the jacket and the hair-cut!
