i have a key broke in ignition barrel, if i replace it do i need any tech stuff done or is it a straight swap over?

right there are 3 ways to sort it,

1 the cheap route, change the barrel and always have the blue part of the key next to ignition so immobalizer can read the chip from your (snapped)key,

2 more expensive, change all your locks and barrel and get the keys reprogrammed to your cars immobalizer, (you will need your old red key to do this)

3 take out your barrel and take it to a specialist and get them to remove the snapped key,


last thing if you need to use car asap ya can always take cap of rear of barrel and use a screwdriver (but i neva said that lol) again leave the snapped part of key near barrel,

i dont have any of snapped key , its just the part in barrel. i have 2 other keys that open doors a blue one and a browny one.

the browny one is the 'red' master key used to program all other keys, basically you can do it easy, take your barrel off strip it down (or take it to a locksmith and get them to remove the broken part, and you can use your other blue key,

the red key is just used to programme the immob chip in your keys,

lost key

I have a 1997 fiat bravo, I have the german title and most of the original paper work. However, I lost the ONLY key. How can I get the car started?

Ohh by the way, most of the key was broken off in the barrel, the blue chip portion is lost.

1- you can go to an auto electrician and bypass the immobaliser and just get a new barrel and key set,

2- or find a model the same as yours for spares on ebay , and get the ecu, full lock set (with keys) and also the yellow transponder box for the immobaliser chip, this is probably the cheapest option, as you can fit everything yourself

laslty you can go to fiat and get option 2 done by them at a cost of around £600 , because your on the key code 1 system
