do I have to remove the steering wheel to get the cowling off to change the barrel?
Yes.
Tailgate is 3 10mm nuts
do I have to remove the steering wheel to get the cowling off to change the barrel?
Yes the wheel and the cowling have to come off unfortunately. Does anyone know how to remove the lock when you don't have a key? This is the part that I am stuck with obviously the barrel housing has been removed from the column but can't find a way of splitting it!
Yep, but Andy hasn't the key
ever thought of trying another panda's key in it....?
Talons key fits Fallouts.. and the other way around.
even some of the cinq keys "go in" to the panda locks.. if its worn with a jiggle it may turn it. worth a short..
if this really was the game "fallout".. lets say with fiats, im kinda at level 99 lock pick skill.
Is it REALLY NECESSARY for the cowling to come off? To release the barrell, is the hole that it needs to be inserted into the small rectangular one that I can see from the cowling's underside?Unfortunately the cowling does have to come off, tried it on our 750 a month or so back and its not possible with it in place

It will be the wiring that is holding it in place. Drop the dash roll down by undoing the screws on the end plates, this will give you access to the wiring under the cowl. Undo the plugs and then you can feed the wiring up through the cowl whilst you pull the stalks off the column. Is it REALLY NECESSARY for the cowling to come off? I'm wanting to change my ignition barrel to match the rest of my new lock set and I got the steering wheel off OK , but can't remove the indicator stalks. I removed the philips head screw and the 8mm nut and bolt to undo the clamp that holds it to the steering column, and the indicator switch unit is now loose but won't pull off. I don't want to pull hard at it and break it; I've given it many attempts and it won't budge.:bang:
I'm all for trying to change the barrell with cowl on if anyone's ever done it?
So I had my keys stolen. I had a new key cut for my ignition, and ordered a new set of keys and locks. I have fitted new locks to my doors and I only have the ignition barrel left to do.
I followed the guide in the 'how to' section, however when I turn my key to the mar position, and I press the little metal but with the screwdriver it still won't budge. Any ideas?
