Hi everybody!

I have an HP Z5082B that gives me an Error when trying to boot. It says that the CMOS Battery is dead. It also says that there is no keyboard plugged in, which would be needed to tell rhe system to boot anyway, ignoring the dead battery. I would like to first try to find a solution in software, or at least try to boot the system before attempting a replacement on the CMOS Battery, but I don‘t know which port on the device to use to plug in the keyboard. To this post I‘ll attach photos of the ports, I would appreciate any help in finding the correct connector so I can search for a keyboard that has the appropriate connector.

Wow, this thing is ancient. They should have a touch screen, it’s a very old machine a 486 and I believe they use an old 5 pin Din keyboard and in your picture there is a circular blanking plate on the left of your picture.

The main problem with the cmos battery you mention is back when this thing was built they used batteries that had a horrible habit of leaking all over the mother board and damaged the tracks.

I’d take a look inside as it’s just an old PC to be honest, the main problem is getting it to talk to anything post 2000 or updating it, have you got all the cables to connect it to cars ?

The 'no keyboard' message may be related to the CMOS battery failure.
Before keyboards used the PS2 plug, as in your pic, they had a 9-pin plug. On your pic, top left there is a 9-pin socket, next to a round hole. But a standard very old keyboard would have had a female plug, to fit onto a male on the machine. Your machine shows a female socket, so that may well be a serial port, not a keyboard port.

Google brings up lots of stuff. But try these, at least it shows a CMOS battery can be had for £6.

Of course, if you get it working, it will only work with cars that are no newer than the machine, or at least the time it was last updated.
Whilst an interesting exercise, if the purpose is to diagnose a recent car, you'd still be better off with MES. (MultiECUscan)

The answer is in the last link that Portland Bill sent and also confirms what I said, it’s under the blanking plate.

See the picture below or follow the link and you’ll see it’s labelled “ Tastatur” which is german for keyboard, other things that are useful there are the other labels showing the card in the lower right of your picture is the display adaptor, the top left is a digital volt meter (the round cap is a fuse) the other remaining card is for diagnostic cables.

There is also a number of plugs on the other side of the unit
