Driving in flooded conditions the "generic failure indication" light (The amber triangle with the exclamation mark.) came on and has stayed on. The engine sputtered but did not stall and we got home safely, with the engine running OK.

I've tried doing a few re-starts of the engine but the triangle is still there. In a previous thread, it's been suggested that finding the error code could be the way forward. Is this a trip to the dealership or is there another way to do this?

She's a 2009 1.4L "Sport".

Come on... How old are you? Are you new (newbie) to the Internet and Forums?
Ever heard of "diagnostic interfaces" / "cables" / "OBD2" ?

Buy one (+ "MES" program) and read/delete codes by yourself. That's it.

PS
But remember, erasing a code is not "repair".

Most important: why 2nd thread on the same issue?!
You should continue there (previous one)! https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/484589-amber-warning-light-stays.html
Don't be THAT lame.
