Technical help needed

right here we go,i was told by the garage that i had burnt exhaust valves done a bit of ringing round an found a stilo engine which worked out the cheaper option,engine was running fine for about three weeks,but suddenly im getting power loss when speeding upit will only go up to about 3000 rpm each gear before starts dying altogether.its starting to cut out now,ive done a bit of searching an found many different answers,im firstly going to changes s,plugs in morn,any other ideas i could do myself before i take it to the garage(i haven had the eng man light reset yet if that makes a difference?
stilo 1.6 02,engine came from 52.

it does make a difference (car might still be running on old settings.. and not getting expected results back) what you described is engine management limiting power/rpm (limp mode) - you need to read off error codes for us to give you any sort of advise..

may i ask who did your engine swap? where did you get the spare and costs involved?
