From T-Jet to 182

Introduction

Hello people,
Sold my T-Jet about a week ago to a local guy, I don't know if he has joined here yet but no dougbt he will. Replaced it with a black gold 182FF with Blue flame exhaust with de-cat, 17" team dynamic monza R wheels in black with red lip, ITG panel filter...
Will take a few oictures today but here is one from the advert, wheels are very likley to be changed in the next few weeks as I cannot say I am overlly fussed on them.

Tris I wouldn't have moved it is was a downgrade, one day you will drive one and come back and comment, awesome cars, on my 5th :) I was going to a rallye, it's the look of the older cars that get me at the moment, awesome. Is it just me or do alot of the modern cars look the same.
Turinis or Ulterleggeras are the only wheels I will be exchanging them for :)

i've driven two, one modified, one not :)

ewww hate turinis.

Get pro races on the go richard. now.

glad to see you finally got one tho, where you pick it up from,a nd when you taking me out in it.

OH and btw, cookies 172 made 180.4bhp at the fly on monday with 152.7bhp at the wheels.

x

am i right in thinking thats a massive drop in bhp through the transmission? I'm not right clever with rolling roads

FWD tends to be around 17% IIRC for tranmission loss from Flywheel to Wheels. RWD is slightly higher IIRC at about 19% and AWD is even higher at 22% IIRC.

These numbers are plucked from memory so there may be slight variance ;)

yerp. average percentages are good to go by. but as with everything in life different factos alter what it actualy puts down on the tarmac.

the crazy thing is tho, considring the majority of 172's RR at around 162-165bhp as standard, and my friends has a De-cat back from Pro-Speed and a Homemade Induction kit that i made him. its an insane gain.

Nice car, always had soft spot for CLio's.

It's a common misconception that there are % figures for average transmission loss, this is not quite accurate, a car that makes 50bhp will in percentage terms loose much more than a car making 500bhp.

The full details are explained here better than i can put it http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/trans.htm

But for FWD cars take wheel power add 10 and divide by 0.9

Here is an online calculator to work it out http://www.dyno-power-run.com/dynocalc.shtml though only works with full numbers

Therefore a car making 152.7 makes at flywheel 180.7bhp which is near as you can get to the r/r print out of 180.4bhp.

Cheers for the comments guys, I am booked into GDI this tuesday for new brembo HC disks front and rears accompanied with Mintex 1144 pads allround and Stainless steel braided hoses allround, 12k/1year service (despite it being only 5k and 9 months since last service, piece of mind) cambelt and auxillery belt at same time, and matched and ported inlets. Ordered this in matt finish yesterday;
