General Fiat punto MK1 auto or manual better?

Hey guys..

Need some advice. Currently am driving fiat punto elx cabrio 1.6 manual.
Kinda tired driving manual and my wife loves it if its an auto trans.

So need your advice auto engine on pros n cons??
heard auto gearbox always the main probs...

Old auto boxes on small cars are always a problem. Even when they work well, the change is somewhat jerky, and when they go wrong it's normally more than the car's worth to fix them!

The mk1 automatic gearboxes are diabolically unreliable at this age, and the cost of repairs is enough to write off the car.
