Help please
Punto 2002 1.2 8 v

I have discovered that if i connect an earth direct from the battery to the body of the ECU this cures my problem of false Lambda sensor errors being reported.

Please can someone tell me were the ECU body is normally earthed.

many thanks

if i remember correctely, there is a small earth wire going to the throttle body just in front of the butterfly valve, held in with a hex-head screw. The ECU is obviously mounted to the throttle body and i presume this is how it gets its earth. So i'd check the earth cable to the throttle body and clean it up, and then clean the two surfaces on both the throttle body and the ECU that are contacting.

Feel around the ECU and you will find a short black lead with a captive ring on the end. On my HGT it's supposed to connect to the back of the cylinder head. But such a pig to get at, I crimped on a larger ring tag and put it under one of the engine mount bolts where its easy to access. Electrically its the same lump of metal and it all works fine.
