Technical Doblo 1.9JTD DPF lifespan/ should C3 engine oil be used?

Hi, I just purchased a 2006 Doblo 120bhp with 102k on the clock and was annoyed to find out that it has a DPF as a whole load of extra hassle, one being if if it is likely to fail soon as 102k on the clock (had a p1206 code last year with previous owner and he used cat a clean in tank to clear it), and the other being what oil to use in it as the handbook says nothing at all about using a low sap oil. I have spoken to garages who all tell me different things - one fiat specialist even saying that not needed as the engine does not burn the oil - if that were true then low sap would not have ever been needed surely?
