General Could my car be written off?

I'm not looking to go to court. As for the money, i got ripped off in the first place and Punto's aren't that expensive to replace really. Sportings are about 1,500 and im not that bothered about spending a little extra.

As for the courtesy car, this was provided by the accident repair company, eventually. So i haven't gone and rented a Porsche. The car is in the same class as my other car.

I am also not claiming off my insurance what so ever. I first rang Directline and they told me to talk directly to Endsleigh. They said they would only get involved if the other driver rejected responsibility, which he hasn't.

I'm sure they'll give me a resonable amount of money for my car if it gets written off, but thanks for the advice anyway.
Besides, they haven't even analysed the car yet, so i guess i'll just wait to see what happens.

They'll ask how much u payed for the car and only give you that amount, you may be able to challenge this, i don't know. But if you have had the car more than a year they might not even offer that much

Most likely a write off I'd say. You're wheel doesn't look perfectly straight either. If it is a write off, you'll have to buy a new car n wait for money to come through from insurance which can take weeks. Unless the car is safe to drive still in which case you can drive it till the money comes! Or i did when mine was written off anyway. Most insurances tell you to keep the car and minus scrappage value off the value of the car they give you!
Then you sell it for parts n get more! or you can choose to get it fixed and re-MOT it! but then it's CAT D and insurance costs lots more on it

When would your car be safe to drive if it has been written off:confused:

Well when on the phone sorting out my claim they asked how much i payed for the car (i payed 550 but told them 900 :p) so they automatically said we'll give you 900 for it then. Minus scrappage of course

Well looking on Autotrader, the prices range from 800 - 2500 for the exact same car, however mine seems to have less mileage than most of them.
And i have not owned the car for more than a year.

Wrong.

Paid £375 for a Panda in Jul/Aug 08, Written off in March 09, and after a fight, £200 was a joke for its condition, and the next off of £250 was a kick in the teeth, we got £850   Although said cars replacement cost £750 for an identicle one, so was the correct market value payout at the time.

One back into a state of road worthyness.

I meant...

if you have an accident and the car is a write off. At what point do you deem it safe enough to drive home:confused:

You won't know if its a write off until insurance have accessed it and said so. So your going to have driven it home before then it safe to do so.

I deam it upon if anything structural has been affected in a major way,

also claim whiplash, if it was his fault you can anyways...

i got 1700 claiming whiplash :p

Only if you got whiplash should you, and you can also claim off your own in the event of being at fault if fully comp.

Claiming whiplash when there is nothing wrong is fraud and it shoves up insurance costs for everyone. A half-good neck specialist can spot malingering a mile off.

Looks like they're fixing my Punto! They said it would be ready next friday. I'll sort of miss the courtesy car though, i just got used to no juddering when i lift my foot off the accelerator in 2nd.
Also, if I end up selling my car do i need to tell them about the crash?
Many thanks.

If they ask you then yes, otherwise I don't see why you'd have to. Would put the buyer off and it's not CAT C or D so no you don't have to tell them. Although people will say yes you do because its the right thing to do! blah blah!
If you're selling a car you make it sound goos as possible but by law you have to answer any questions honestly, so you can't lie about it if they ask you. That goes for anything on the car
