Hi All,

I have been getting really bad condensation in the car recently, always have the heater on fresh air and not recirculate.

It's got to the point now where tonight the inside of the windscreen was actually dripping with condensation it was like someone had sprayed it with water.

The scuttle drains were blocked earlier this year but the carpets have long dried out from that incident.

Any ideas what could be causing it? A friend wondered if the heater was leaking, would this cause said issue?

Thanks

Before you suspect the heater matrix...
Check the spare tyre well for water - hatchback seal. (Check the seal is not kinked or badly seated)
Check the rear carpet for damp - rear door seal (s)
If no luck, Charlie's guide will get you there.

If it was the heater matrix leaking, wouldn't the car smell of coolant?

Could the scuttle drains have become blocked again?

Or maybe soundproofing is still damp.

Maybe the air recirc flap is not moving as it should.

Put an electric dehumidifier in the car for a few days. At least the collected water is demineralised ideal for topping up the coolant. :)

Important. Check the front under the bonnet that its not flooded again. near the wiper motor due to blocked drainage holes.

A lot of condensation.

Water entering somewhere. First thing if to find where its damp. Normally its can be felt or seen. Front or rear carpets. Spare wheel well.

When the area is found we can then better advise to probable cause.

Water ingress is a big pain. Check the door drain holes are not blocked, also might be worth checging the door card and internal door seals are still good and not detached. Also check the windscreen is not leaking. Had one fall out many years ago and it had certainly been leaking a little. Check the radio aerial seal too. Most likely is the scuttle drain holes. Good luck
