Hi All

I need to change the Clutch Master Cylinder (Pump) on my Fiat Ducato as it is leaking fluid, can the clutch fluid be drained and replaced without affecting the brake fluid /hydraulics.
I assume the Clutch and Brake Hydraulic systems are seperate systems but share a common reservoir.
I can use an easy bleed if it helps.

Many Thanks

Hi - did you get an answer to this? Same problem, no solution yet....

Hi.
Not absolutely sure but I think the pick up for the brakes is lower than for the clutch in the reservoir, the idea being that if you have a fluid leak the clutch fails before the brakes.
If there is no sensor on the cap lid you could try removing the cap and placing a plastic bag over the filler hole then screwing the cap back firmly, this should stop the reservoir venting and cause a vacuum above the fluid, this should minimise the fluid loss.
If the pipe to the master cylinder is rubber you could clamp it with a pair of mole grips, rap a piece of rag around the pipe before you clamp it to stop the moles damaging the pipe.
That’s all the hydraulic tricks I know.
