Stilo 1.6 here.
Symptoms: When the weather is hot (happened during the 2 last summers also) the clutch begins to make a creaking sound when pressed/depressed which is getting worse and worse while driving. I can feel it on my foot and eventually it gets so worse that the pedal stays down and I need to put my foot under it and get it up.
I thought that the problem occured because the clutch was getting too hot when it was used a lot in heavy traffic. But last week after I changed a radiator hose I left the car on idle for about an hour to test that I had no coolant leak. When I got in the car and started driving it I realised that the clutch had the exact same symptoms as if I have been driving it in heavy traffic for a long time even if the clutch hadn't been pressed at all since then.
A couple of technicians who checked it suggested that I should change the clutch because there maybe a problem with the pressure plate (maybe some tooth has broken) but I am thinking that if that was the case my clutch should give me these problems even in cold weather or while the engine was still cold.
Can a bad slave cylinder or the brake fluid (which I haven't changed for a long time) give similar problems. I don't want to spend 200+ euros on a new clutch only to find out that the problems will continue to occur afterwards.
Just to mention that I am facing no problem selecting a gear even when hot and that in the winter time the clutch is working perfectly
Thanks in advance.
