General Burning smell

I have recently purchased a 2005 Ducati 2.3 diesel turbo motorhome, 32500m. It has just had a reconditioned gear box and new clutch fitted under warranty. Occasionally when I inadvertently over rev there a burning smell. Why do you think this is please?

Hi. One possibility is that oily fingermarks are burning off the exhaust pipe. This will eventually clear itself. But keep a keen watch out for other causes.
