Hi all
could anyone please shed some light on my current plight.. i had just set off in car on friday, got about qtr mile and it started pulsing/losing power/juddering, warning light came on dash, and stated ESP not available etc. Had AA man out, he checked /reset everything, its still not turning over, will have to carry it to my choice of garage (another question-barnsley area) as even though he thinks its in neutral, is guess is that the engine thinks its still in gear.? any ideas? anyone come across this before? its an automatic gearbox.
The question also is do I go to main dealer (they'll have the right comp to communicate with gearbox) or local garage that i'd normally use? I do have two extended warranty years, which the previous owner purchased when new...the company I bought it off sold to me with the thought that I could transfer these years of warranty into my name.. any ideas on that also? cheers and hope somone can help. Thanks John

Hi John. What does the dash say gear wise, does it display if it's in gear or neutral?

Sounds to be electrical based, as ESP failure popped up first of all, normally a sign of a failing battery. Can you expand on what you mean by 'plusating' before it died.

It'll be a Fiat main dealer job if gearbox related, only 3rd party bit of software which can speak to the gearbox is multiECUscan, formally FiatECUscan, but this is a specialised bit of software (although cheap) which most back street garages are unlikely to have.

Regarding the warrantee, you'll need to contact the company supplying the warrantee. Ideally this should have already been done. How long have you owned the car

Jon.

Hi, managed to just transfer extended warranties to my name... £27, but covered till mid 2014 , so not bad, but it doesn't cover things like diagnostics so they're gonna get some money out of me,...

The aa man said it seems to be in neutral, but thinks its in gear.. not seen if its showing a gear but will have a look.. AA due near lunch to have pick up and take to dealership... at least i'm covered on warranty if it turns out to be something nasty...
it kind of was losing power, and i was trying accelerator.. then it died. Think its not turning over cos it thinks its in gear still.
PS: many thanks for your help. John
Nightmare when your car dies.. and moving house at end of week!! double nightmare.. these thing happen to test us!!!!

towed to dealership.. so far they've told me its not initially communicating with diagnostics, and said it could be wiring, that isn't covered on warranty!!!! is owt covered on warranties.. theres are few black holes seemingly in warranties. Not happy... (n)

Aftermarket warrentees are normally rubbish imo. Is it a Fiat dealer? They are the only ones who are likly to have the kit to speak to it.

Where abouts are you located
