INSURER GETS GIRL POWER
Insurance needn't be dull. To prove the point, Adrian Flux Insurance, the specialist car broker, has just launched a girl-powered calendar for 2008.
But this is no boring old supermodel glamour calendar: the Adrian Flux calendar features beautiful girls who actually work for Flux - they're all experienced insurance executives with girl power as well as sex appeal. Most of them deal with customers day to day, speaking on the phone, developing schemes or services, finding good insurance cover, assisting with claims and so on. If you're a regular Flux customer, it's quite possible you've spoken to them.
So Laura, who strikes a rather provocative pose with a mint-condition Ford Cortina in January, is actually a renewals specialist who's been with Flux for six years.
Similarly when Jenny (aka Miss July) isn't draped across the bonnet of a Lotus, she's Flux's customer service department manager.
What's a customer service department manager doing in a glamour calendar? "Why not?" says Jenny. "Sure I'm a business woman, but this isn't compromising my ambitions. The main thing is, it's really good fun, and while I enjoy my work, it's great to get out of the office occasionally and do something totally, totally different."
Jenny, Laura and the other girls are part of the Flux Babes team who, as well as working at Flux's head office (East Winch Hall in Norfolk), tour car shows and events promoting the Flux message.
Flux specialises in niche markets such as classics, modified motors, high performance cars and pick-ups, covering vehicles and drivers that the standard insurers don't like, for whatever reason. It also has a reputation for offering cheap insurance deals. Consequently a lot of Flux's customers are young adults, who (unsurprisingly) have a strong affinity for the Flux Babes.
"You only have to watch the crowds who come to meet us at the shows to see that," laughs Jenny. "And it's not all young lads. Lots of couples and families come and see us too - boys take pictures of us with their mates, girls photograph us with their blokes, and vice versa, and mums take pictures of us with their kids.
"I guess part of the appeal is that while the Flux Babes are pretty, we're not intimidating - we could be the girl next door. Actually, most of us are!"
The Flux Babes calendar has been produced as a giveaway. But with a print run of just 2,500 copies, it's going to be rarer than hens' teeth. Luckily, Flux is running an online competition to give away 100 copies. Visit the Flux Babes website at www.fluxbabes.co.uk for details.
Adrian Flux has a huge range of policies for the motoring enthusiast. For details contact the Adrian Flux quote line on 0800 505 3000, email the company at [email protected], or see the Flux homepage on www.adrianflux.co.uk
