Hi everyone, just wanna know if the selespeed oil change is supposed to be done by dealer? or if I can do it myself? thanks!
cant remember off hand for the stilo but many cars should be purge bleed by diagnostic equipment.
(why you changing oil?)

I believe that like T14086 says, it needs to be done with Examiner hooked up to purge and repressurise the system
Shouldn't all car liquids be changed at some point? (serious question!) Don't all car oils get contaminated over time? I've heard that it should be changed about every 36k miles... is that not the case?
thanks for the reply T14086
in the recent 2 months, i have been receiving auto gear box failure message, the message disappears most of time, but it does appear quite usually. the car is ok, gear positions can be changed with no problem, so i suspect maybe the selespeed oil needs a change.
hi Greggers, my car is same to yours, 02 5 doors, 2.4.
millage is 48000, should I really do anything?
Nice! Good choice Make sure you post some pics at some point
You're on exactly the same mileage as me and like you, I had the auto gearbox failure message a while ago. It turned out to be the odd gear engagement sensor failing and meant that I couldn't select any odd gears (strangely enough! ). As long as your oil is between the max and min markers on the reservoir (they're VERY close together), then I'd be more inclined to look elsewhere rather blame the Selespeed fluid. Unfortunately, Examiner is the only way to diagnose issues with the Selespeed gearbox
yes Greggers, it is a nice car, but my painting is light blue~
I see what you meant.... i hope my problem is all about the sensors, but not the gearbox itself
I plan to go to my nearest dealer next week, but I do not know if I have to go to dealer for the problem of my stilo, there are actually some other problems see below
auto gear box failure message
asr failure message
esp failure message
frog light failure message
air bag failure message
gear box which I think is most important, others less important..
have you encountered any of my problem Greggers?
sorry about my English. thanks
Lol, I think you'll find that just about everyone on this forum has encountered these errors at one point or another...
auto gear box failure message - Already covered
asr failure message - Could be linked to a battery on the way out or the ABS wheel sensors needing a bit of a clean up. Have a search for it on this forum using the search button, it's pretty well documented.
esp failure message - As above
fog light failure message - This will just be one of the fog light bulbs having blown or a corroded connector in the bulb holder. I had the same thing where the fog light bulb was fine but the car thought that it had blown. Cleaned the fog light connectors and the error went away.
air bag failure message - This is also well documented on the forum and is either a duff connector under one of the seats or the OCS (Occupant Characterisation Sensor - something like that) on the passenger seat. Check for lumps on the passenger seat and most likely the OCS is to blame.
Examiner will tell you what's at fault with all of these so you should get your monies worth out of it!
thanks everyone, I know what to do now, and I have made an appointment with the dealer, really thanks guys
