Hello all, first time on here.

Had the car about 8 weeks when it refused to start, jumped it, ran 100miles and all was good for a couple of days. Then it again refused to start, this time jumped it and took it back to the Stealers and asked that a new battery be fited under warranty, I recieved the polite reply of sorry sir, we have to test it overnight, charge it, blah blah blah.

They returned the car to me saying all was good and it just needed a good charge, no probs with alternator and no excessive drain on the battery.

I leave, bidding them a fond fairwell and letting them know should i see them again for the same prob I wont be impressed.

........1 week later...........
no start, fine on the Jump leads though (most annoying as I have a take away curry on the passenger seat!)

Return to the stealer folloowing day and get told they cant possibly take it in for 4 days! When asked what I am supposed to use as a car they say run it and call the AA - unfortunately i`m a little busy to to spend 2 hours a day waiting for the AA. Anyhow, nice weather so walking to work etc not a big problem.

I now have it booked in for tommorow am and expect to be greeted by a new level of incompetence in both service terms and actually sorting the car out.

Had the car not been under warranty I would just have gone and bought a new battery but why should I?

Anyhow, what im really asking is there realistically cant be any other fault than the battery can there?

Also, Ive heard about Fiat service but these guys are unreal - I just need a battery, no not a new engine, nothing costly JUST a battery!

Sorry to have such a rant on my first post!

Regards

Pete

Re: Battery + Dealer probs

welcome:)
they should be able to test a battery to see if it will hold a charge, it dont take all night, you just use a teaster, charging it and seeing how it goes is no good, a naff battery will charge it just wont hold it,
unless your boot light is stuck on i would just go to a motor factors and buy a new battery, add up cost of driving to dealer+chucking away cold take away it will be cheeper

Re: Battery + Dealer probs

got home in time for takeaway!

Why should I buy a battery after 6 weeks! The car is new - I know where you are coming from though.

They claim to have left it on overnight charge, the service lady started spouting bumf about the type of charger which didnt even sound real! then tested the battery for dead cells and all having been sound.

Oh well see what happens:rolleyes:

I really am expecting them to fob me off again but we shall see.

Re: Battery + Dealer probs

Tandoori Chicken Bhuna (hot) boiled rice and a Nan for me and Chicken Dupiaza (mild) with pilau rice for the G/F. Also with the obligatory salad and popadoms (eaten whilst waiting for girlfriend to turn up!)

I was well ready for it by the time i got to eat it ;-)

None of this was helped buy the drunk at the bus stop mocking me for not buying a BMW - the cheek of it.

lived off quaver sandwiches for about 3 years when I was a drunk student.

Instructions....
Take 2 slices of Warburtons yellow, smear with flora, place 2/3 of a packet of quavers and top with the 2nd slice.
Crush and attempt to eat without looking like a prat!

NB posh bread or spread must not be used as it`l only spoil it.

Is this to do with Curries of Watford or the London one....or nothing to do with the dealer called Currie Motors.....if Currie Motors see the garage section....if curry I apologise for my misunderstanding :)

lol
the only curries I know come from the Taj Mahal - Bolton, highly recomended, atleast much better than my Fiat Dealer, infact I wish they were my Fiat dealer!

Missed that part of original post....sorry :)

Just that the dealer sevice you are getting is similar to that provided by Currie Motors in Watford....now I'm sure they'd be better at making a curry than fixing a car.

if you have problems with the battery best thing to do is to book it in on a monday morning, and sat/sun drop the car and keys off and tell them you cant make it on monday, battery should be dead by the time they look at it so they cant ignore it and say its fine

The story from the dealer today is that the Body Computer (?) is duff causing the flattening of the battery :bang:

So they have given me a Punto for the week - what joy so well see how that goes.....

Never come across this body computer thing before so if anyone can shed any light on it that woiuld be cool ;-)

Off home for a curry now

Morrit - just saw your sig 1st of April and 3 returns - trust me the 1st of April has nothing to do with it, purchased mine on the 7th April and it to has been back 3 times! sure this wont be its last vist!

I think its something more connected to them both being Fiats

Body computer, multifunction module,GEM module,BSI unit...all different names for same thing...basically converts CAN communication, timed electrical units etc...its fitted to the rear of the fusebox on stilos or should I say the fusebox is mounted on the body computer.
