rattle, rattle - noisy stilo suspension

Anyone elses Stilo 3dr got noisy suspension??????

Car has been in twice under warranty for repair to suspension, the second time I had some upgraded suspension parts fitted. bushes apparently.

This solved it for about a week when it started to rattle when going over speed ramps or up and down lowered curbs.

Anyone elses the same or should i go back to my fiat dealer?????

Apparently the 2004 stilo 3dr face lift includes a full suspension upgrade, Im thinking this might be due to noise complaints????

My Stilo front suspension rattles/clunks whenever I go over minor bumps and potholes. Anything major and it's fine. It's sooooo annoying and the dealership where I bought the car from claimed they couldn't hear the rattle.

Fortunately, another dealership took a look and spent a couple of days with it (also replacing some bushes). However, the problem is still there and another visit is required.

There are loads of posts on the forum about noisy suspension.... mostly at the back though. Have a look around in the technical section and then go and get your rear sub0frame replaced ;)

BTW, mine is noisy too and, consequentially, I have a very loud stereo (do we still use the word stereo now we have so many sperakers??)

Isnt replacing the sub frame a bit drastic and will it not just rattle again in a couple of months????
How do i convince my Dealer to replace the subframe when all they want to do is re-grease the bushes?????
Also Fiat expert how do I convince my dealer to replace front shocks and anti roll bar links???

Cheers

My Stilo had noisy rear suspension. Rubber sqeaking kinda noises especially over small bumps, lowered kerbs, etc. I just ignored them...

And have you noticed how the sound goes when you're braking even very gently. I'm having the front brake pads replaced on saturday to see if the new thicker pad will have less room inside the caliper to move around, because they have been known to rattle before and make a very loud clattering noise. I know this will only be a temporary cure (if it works), but i'm sick of hearing it. I'll let you know what happens.
I'd be very interested to see how you get on. I've been trying out your theory with the braking and you seem to be onto something.

Well Barbarian, My car is now much quieter since having the front brake pads changed, although I can now hear the back ones doing the some but not the to same extent. I'm assuming these will get worse as they wear. I also had a new shocker put on the off side to stop the car squeaking when going over speed ramps etc. That made it worse. So I put the steering on full lock and sprayed some WD40 onto the tie bar I think they call it, that connects the shocker to the anti roll bar. I also sprayed some on the bush where the lower arm meets the subframe,And hey presto no noise. Armed with this info. I'm off into my dealers tomorrow morning to see if we can come up with a more permenant solution, Coz I reckon the next bit of rain and the WD 40 will wash off and it'll be back to squeaky stilo. Good luck.
