OK so I have had my stilo for a few months now and it came with a single din stereo, no big deal I bought an adapter and no problem, now I want to switch the stereo as it is a cheap one and I want the inside a bit techy haha, only problem is no other stereo will work at all, the stereo that is in there now will stay on even if you take the key out of the ignition or even if you get out lock the door it will stay on until the battery dies unless of course you turn it off at the button on the stereo, I am no wizard with wiring I know basics though so any help is much appreciated

The stilo doesnt have an ignition wire to the stereo hence why it stays on you can fit your own wire so it turns the stereo off via the key .I have fitted a double din dvd player in my stilo but kept the wiring as it was with turning it off manually but it isnt hard to add the wire tbh hopes this helps regards andy

Thanks that clears that up but still have the problem that no other stereo will work???

Ok every manufacturer use different connections for the lives on stereos highly possible that there isnt a live connected from the stereo harness to the car harness. The stereo should have a wiring diagram either in its manual or on the top of the stereo my double din was wired wrong so the live didnt connect

Also saying above if both lives on the new stereo arent connecting to the car harness you will get no power

Do you think it's possible whoever installed the current stereo messed with the lives as I can't get any power on 3 different stereos I've tried

could possibly I would look at the power cables (2 lives) and earth off the car harness and check them against the connection on the stereo harness. When connecting the stereos did you use the same harness each time or different ones ?
