General Head light bulb

General Head light bulb

It IS possible to do it with the battery still in place by going from above and below the car although you risk damaging the bulbs this way. I'd just suggest removing the battery and then just removing the battery holder, which is held in place by two bolts and a phillips screw. Depends how much time you have but removing the battery and holder gives you a LOT more room.

You could also remove the wheel arch on the nearside well but I'd say that was harder and more time consuming than removing the battery. If you choose to do that then there's only six philips screws to remove.

I definitely found it easier to remove the arch liner especially to do the sidelights.

It's by no means hard but I'd prefer to go the battery route, unfortunately it does **** up all of the electrics in the car

I just don't like to keep pulling out the plastic arch out as it is damaging it

Think I'm going battery route tomoorw lol, got both fog and dipped beam to do, drivers is easy 2 mins job, I've done passenger by wheel arch and preferred it was easier but too much messing lol

I have to do my fogs, the connectors are there but no bulbs in, previous owner must have been a woos.

Anyhow, so far ive only had to change sidelight bulb on drivers side (offside) and that was a pain in the arse, had to jack the car up and go from underneath, took about 20mins to get the rear cover back on, nightmare.

Next time i think i will remove the washer bottle and possibly the battery and tray for passenger side...

Yea i thought about that too.

However, the grill and front metal frame above grill have to come off too so its about same in regards of time and effort..

Its simpler to dropping the bumper tbh than faffing around taking the battery off and removing the tray as it doesnt take much in time difference as i can remove my bumper and light in half an hour now and the same to put together

Plus you dont reset the stereo everytime you want to change the bulbs

The grill is clipped to the bumper, so comes off with it. Metal part above the grill is the slam panel which doesn't need to come off.

Oh right, i read the elearn manual and it says to take off the slam pannel then grill and bumper...

All seems much easier now, might do mine on Thursday / Friday then, also got a motor that's sticking so need to look at that too.

dtimmins theres two (one eachside) plastic peices under each light that need to be removed before the light can be removed. These hold the bumper in place

Quicker to remove the bumper than the washer resevoir and battery tray. ;)
.

Haha, yes. I had to replace the whole light cluster on the nearside so obviously the bumper had to come off. I used that as an opportunity to replace all bulbs with better quality ones because tbh they were all looking a bit knackered (y)

I got this far and then my friend came over and asked if I had written off the car or something  (bumper damage was already there, I didn't drop it or anything :p )
