Hi,

Stilo 1.6, no alarm system - sometimes the indicators flash 3 time when I lock the car, when normally it should be just a single flash.

Is this some sort of error code ? I made sure the doors are closed, etc. The car locks just fine.

Thanks !

Well, the 3 time flash indicator shows that one of the doors including boot are open, if you're 100% sure that the doors are fully closed and still get this indication, i would assume you have a problem with one of the sensors that are responsible to "tell" if the door/s are closed or not.

On the subject of alarms my 1.2 has a red flashing light at the door press button. Does this mean I have an alarm? If so I don't have flashing indicators when locking doors. Should I?

I have that LED too ... and no alarm.

You can activate the indicators with MultiECUscan, but you'll need the security code which comes on that blue card.

I got red flashing light as well, but no alarm system, i think it's just a "dummy" alarm. If your indicators doesn't flash it means they are disabled, it always happens after a proxy alignment and it need to re-enabled again. Like aStiloFan said, you'll need a security code, it's like a credit card, blue with a key picture, you should check your handbook if you got it there. If you do have it, all you need is to hook up your car to a multiscan and re-enable the indicator by entering the security code.

Thanks ! I'll check that.

Regarding the faulty sensors to tell if the door/s is closed or not, if it's the sensor problem, you would also have a message and a dashboard saying that one of the doors are open, while the engine is on. If you don't get this message i would assume the sensors are fine. :)

If you live on the 4th+ floor, and in the moment of going to bed, you think: Did I lock the car? You grab your binoculars, point them down to your car (which ofcourse is parked so you can see the driver's door) and look for the red blink. No blink? Clothes on. :D

If you click the button twice, this indicates that deadlock is armed as well.

I actually do live on the 4th floor, and i do look thru a window to see a red blink :DD

That's the problem, no "door/boot opened" message on the dashboard, but I still sometime get the 3 flashes. Could it also happen if you forget to leave the car in the first gear or something ... ?

Does this mean the car is not properly secured if you only give one click on the key fob button?

As far as I am aware, click once is just locking the car. If you try to open it from inside with the door handle it will unlock.

Clicking twice is flashing the lights 3 times and is initiating deadlock. If you try to open with the handle inside it will not work.

Most of the times the thiefs are using simple tools just go through the gap between the window and the pannel and catch the cable of the handle and pull, this unlocks the car if deadlock is not armed.
Ford also have the same feature working the same way (we had Mondeo).

Try it yourself by locking both ways while you are in the car. :)
Personally, I always arm the deadlock.

No it doesn't. If a door is open is flashes quickly around 7 times.

3 times means the car has been deadlocked (y)

You'll also hear the locks firing twice rather than once :)

Tried doing this on my 2006 1.4 5 door and 2 clicks made no difference. Still only one flash of the blinkers on the second click and no deadlocking of the internal handles. Am I doing something wrong?

All UK spec'ed Stilos have this feature. It has to be a relatively quick double click.

Whatever I do with the key fob I can't get the 3 flashes of the blinkers or the deadlocks to work. Do you think this feature was dropped from the last batch of UK Stilos? Mine has the grey shadow grille and was bought new in November 2006. It has the door lock feature on the driver's door armrest and the handbook talks about deadlocks, "where fitted".

It should be fitted. Are you double clicking like you would a computer mouse?
