White smoke on start up ?

A small puff is normal=unburnt fuel at start up.
On cold days, white smoke during the first minutes/ miles is condensation, again, normal and common.
If white smoke is thick and present al the times, with low coolant level, this means trouble, f.i. a burned headgasket.
Fiat jtd engines are rock solid on the other hand, so do a good investigation, before getting scared...!!!

some days its thick then wont do it again for a couple of days could it be turbo oil seals on way out ?

also where can you get a blanking plate for egr from and how much please anyone ? and are they easy to fit for a non spanner man

The turbo oil seal would be blue smoke .. I wouldnt worry it about it , its prob just water building up in the cat , and then steaming off
