Can anyone shed some light on what this warning light means, it's just popped up on the dashboard.

Hi #Oakley29 , are you talking about the yellow engine light?

could be any number of hundreds of faults! My immediate guess if you have no performance issues would be a lambda fault, as there seems to be a bit of it about at the moment. but it could be anything from an intermittent misfire cause by an ageing spark plug to a faulty injector.

you need to get the engine ecu read for DTCs and come back to us helpful fellows with the faults for us to be able to help you further. they will be in a P#### format so for instance P0420.

It was passenger haha.

It's the red light above the light telling me the lights are on.

It came on once before but went straight out.

However if you are having performance issues it MIGHT be your MAF, but like Richydraper said it could be one of hundreds of faults. I only say MAF because I had a similar problem. When I was driving on the motorway the engine fault light and message would pop up but then go out straight away.

Sounds very similar to me Phil. First came up on the motorway, then went out when I get off it.

ive never known it to be red... but yes whatever colour it may be... your engine light.

as said, its the check engine light, more orange yellow than red but hey!


definitely need to get it read, though it could be your MAF going out of tolerance at certain speeds/temperatures - if so, the codes for that are stored, even if the check engine light goes out
