Hi

Just picked up my car on Sunday and have been scrolling through the computer display and was pleased to see that the average fuel consumption was over 53 mpg so pleased with that.

I don't have a manual for the car and so don't know if the reading is for an individual journey or an overall average so far? Is it possible to switch between the two?

Just done another search using different words and think I've found the answer?

The average is for the miles indicated on the trip and if zeroed will start recalculating again?

Other cars I've had have positions 1 and 2 in the computer, one being for an on going average unless you reset (the computer and not the trip) and the other resets itself for each journey undertaken.

First is correct, second isn't, trip A and B are separate. B you can reset on its own, but A will reset A and B.

Trip will also probably be over reading. Expect that MPG to he anywhere between 45-53mpg, probably less than 50 though.

Can get a hand book here :) https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php

Thanks for the reply. How do you switch between A and B? Had a look at the downloads before posting and there isn't a manual for 2003. I'll see if I can get one off E-bay.

If your 2003 computer is the same as my 2004 JTD Dynamic then you need to press the 'Menu' button under the driver side air vent (where the fog light switches are). It will say 'Menu' on the mileage/display. Then use the up and down arrows above and below the Menu button to scroll through the Menu (which is what Fiat may refer to in manuals as called 'My Car').

When scrolling through, you'll see several options like 'IND.BOOT' (independent boot unlocking), 'IND.DRIVER' (independent drivers door unlocking), 'SET TIME & DATE', 'SERVICE' (displays miles and days till service due, though may not have been reset if serviced by a dealer without the correct electronic equipment), and 'TRIP B'.

Once you reach TRIB B, press the menu button and use the arrow buttons to select TRIP B ON or OFF. Once you've got it set to ON, press 'Menu' again to confirm and then scroll back through the options above until you see 'EXIT MENU'. Hit Menu button again and the display should return to the date or radio station info. From this point you can use the button on the wiper stalk to scroll through Trip A and hopefully Trip B. Unlike some cars (like VW) you can only go one way through the Stilo menu so if you miss something it requires several clicks back through the menu!

Hope that helps - I did it from memory so if It works flawlessly i'll be happy with myself!
