Hi everyone...

Does anyone know how I can replace the oil vapour trap box on my 2006 Fiat Stilo 1.9 JTD Multijet 120 MW without having to buy a new Airbox housing...
I have tried scrapyards but no luck..
Has anybody tried fitting an older style filter-box from an earlier car? 2001-2005 JTd 115 etc
Fiat say that the housings are different as they have different part numbers..
Also is it possible to make a new vapour box and secure it somewhere...?
We are taking the car to Portugal again in May and coud do without a major expense...

Is it broken, missing or just detached from the air filter housing?

Hi.
It's broken.... Came detached from airbox housing and because it's got no undertray on the car, it got smashed up a little

If it's only "smashed up a little", repair it with fibreglass, then either fibreglass or meld it back onto the air filter housing.

Its smashed up quite bad as half of it is now missing.... Don't think epoxy resin can fix this....lol
Can I just block the end of the pipe off? Or do I need to make a new box

you could but it will fill up with oily gunk eventually and not much volume in just pipe, I remember a thread where similar broken vapour trap was replaced with a plastic water bottle or similar and tied up so still functioned as a reservoir.(temporarily)

Now got another issue. Tried blocking off end of pipe as a temporary thing until I could repair the box...everything great, power was there and drivability. Then engine light came on. Have opened end of pipe up and have had faults cleared but now no power again... Will a small hole in the plug blocking the pipe off work or do I need to fashion a new box... Any ideas will help. Not too sure what you mean by hole in it?
The vapour trap however fixed or repaired has to be air tight no leaks, no airflow.
If air gets in through this pipe its bypassing the maf sensor and the engine thinks its getting less air and injects less fuel.
What did you do fit another trap, platic bottle repair smashed one?

Managed to repair the vapour trap box with good old glass fibre, now engine light has come on... I had it knocked off by a friend with a plug in thingie but it came back on after a couple of hours with a fault code of unknown... Also dash keeps lighting up like a Christmas tree saying that everything has failed but then half hour later everything goes out apart from engine light... Really scratching my head on this one...
