ok, so last night I spent a long, long time trying to sort out my NS headlamp. Basically, the motor is whirring, but nothing is happening. I figured id just see if i could either adjust the headlamp, or check the motor....

big mistake, because i wetn form what I thought would be a quick 30 mins task before tea, to the whole evening. Anyway, I did manage to get themotor out etc but no luck in tems of adjusting the beam but at least I know the adjusters do work. What I couldnt do, was get the damn cover back on.

it seems to me, that it cant have been ON in the first place, because its almost as if its not even big enough. The two clips at the back that slot into the headlamp just wont go, its as if the bulbs inside are too big-so stop the cover from fitting flush...???

what the flip am I doing wrong??(y)

Hi Clivvy, When doing any tasks on the headlights I'm a firm beleiver in removing the front bumper and taking the headlight unit off. Its much easier and you will keep your sanity and also the skin on your knuckles. Its a 15 min job to remove (grease your torx bolts up when you replace them and it will make it a doddle to remove next time). alsimmo (y)

As long as you don't have the integrated washers. Expect more than 15 minutes then... :)

yeah, i think I realised this later into the evening, so i curses myself for not removing the bumper.

im going to have another look next week when i get my car back from the garage as I have ordered a new motor anyway.(y)

Easier way is if you've got some, driver the front onto ramps into the air, get under and put to arm up between the bumper and wheel arch liner. Get someone from above to hold it in the approx place and from underneath there is then a lot more room to move able and slide the 2 locating lugs into place :)

fair point, but ill probably have to remove the bumper as I have the motor to fit, and so long as my MOT isnt too expensive, im going to upgrade my sidelights and main beam while i am at it...!
