Hi all,

I hoping admins or mods can direct me to where I should be asking some of these questions... However, I will also be attaching some photos of my beautiful Stilo. I've tried to make it my own without taking too many things off or ruining its original look.

So... This was the Car when I first got it(december '11):

Now the first thing I did was get rid of the garage sticker in the back window.
Then I bought a new Grille for the front that was badge-less. So now it looks like this:

Then what I did was I hoped to make the back badge-less too, however since it has the "new" round badge, it leaves two big holes and a indented circle. Not so cool, so I replaced it with another badge...;)

I always preferred the bad guys :) anyways, so the next thing I did was update the sound system a little and integrate Bluetooth hands free. This was the ugly hole I had to make into my baby:

However the stereo I put in the hole was this:

The funny story was that I had bought a different one, worth a little less (130) and they forgot to ship it on the day I needed to fit it (tight schedule) and so they sent it again however this time they sent the current stereo that was worth way more (199+). Needless to say I wasn't going to tell them they sent the wrong one ;)

So now I have run out of pictures, apart from snowy Wales:

I would now like to ask some questions/opinions...

I have a list of what I would like to do next. My windows don't demist, they take about 10-15 mins to clear... is this fixed by a cabin filter change?

Next, I don't know if I have them but I think if I do then they are "broked" haha... heated door mirrors? Replacement? or does my model not have them?

Next, Im going to tastefully tint the rear windows, not a complete black out of course but a slight darkening of style ;) yay or neigh?

Now I want to refurb the wheels. Back to perfect chrome or something like a dark grey? black looks ****, white looks chav, and any other colour no one in their right mind would have...

Now I forgot to mention I have fitted a 700watt sub and a 400watt amp, causing lots of drain on an old battery... Replacement might be a good idea?

Finally I realise that this post is its own book so Ill stop here and continue on another day, however any help towards any of these questions would be welcomed with open arms :):)

Also is my car anynice? or have i ruined it somewhere for you?

Thanks!
Alex.

These two problems are most likely due to a defective flap or actuator from the heater matrix. Or more precicely, the "gear" between the actuator and flap.

Morty, might I say thanks for such a quick reply...

So this confirms that I do have heated door mirrors? serious bragging rights against my mate new punto see... haha

So is this gear a big job or something I could do myself?

Thanks,
Alex.

First check if you get air through the windscreen vent: The long one across the dash, right beneath the windscreen's lower edge. Hit the "defrost" button on your AC, or somehow direct the airstream up. Hot air should then come out of the wide dash vent mentioned, and out of the outermost vents on the dash's sides that demist the front door windows - not the ones you can manually close or direct.

The part is extremely expensive to change at a FIAT garage, as they will remove the whole dash. Expect a couple of days and a lot of "money in minus". You can do it yourself if you don't have back or spine problems, without removing the dash, for the cost of two beers.

By the way, I think the mirrors defrost with the rear window heater. But I don't know for sure. One thing is certain, and that is they (mirrors) clear up when I hit the "defrost" button to demist and defrost (the rear heating threads are also enabled automatically). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi,

Thanks for the input guys :)

I think however my problem may be different to what you are explaining... heat isn't an issue. Admittedly it takes a while to get hot, however heat and air passes onto the windscreen and after a while it gets very hot however my issue is that the moisture on the screen isn't clearing very fast, perhaps implying the air hitting the windscreen through the gaps you described is moist. using the aircon which drys the air makes it marginally quicker, however a friend with a similar aged car clears his screen in a near instant.

I like the thought of those sunshades, they work quite well... thanks :)
