Since fitting the new dash and aquirring a lovely new car (i wish) Mileage 500 ish:D:D i have since this morning taken the lappy outside and plugged the car in and whilst there got the mileage reading from the ecu using Yanni's software.

Now that has given me a figure off 192166.1 which converted to miles gives me 119406 miles,:eek::eek::eek::eek: and that cant be quite right because at last mot it was recorded at 127536 and if thats converted backwards 205429kms.
At last mileage on old dash before it died and was removed it was on at least 131 if not 132,000 miles.

Whats going on do you think????

I may be wrong but I thought a new dash cluster could only be installed with Examiner (isn't there an option for it to store original dash mileage too :chin:)

I dont know Argo, but the dash all works as does the mpg etc and the mileage clocks up etc.

I think there's a conversion factor involved. The car records the distance in units and then it needs to be programmed to work out No units x conversion factor= true mileage

If it isn't included in the licenced copy of FES then I would record what the ECU is stating then do a set accurate number of miles (the more the better) and then see what is being recorded in the ECU and send the figures to Yani. He can then work out the accurate conversion factor for your car and be able to put it into the program

Oh right i have missed something with yanni's software then Doh!!!!

Right ok im off to swansea and back on saturday so will get the mileage and the reading from yanni's software first and i guess send it to him to work out.
I will buy the full software at some point too i guess hopefully he will sort the proxy alinement bit out soon.

Hi

Thanks for the update, just about to put new dash in.

If I take to Fiat say after 3 months will they be able to put right mileage on for me. Is this just an issue with the software on your laptop?

Thanks

the mileage of the new cluster has to be lower or equal to the current mileage, the Examiner can't adjust it downward, only equal or upward...

Well now that im getting things back together with my stilo i would like to know if the most recent copy of fiat ecu scan will sort out the flashing mileage and also display the correct mileage.

And aside from a full copy of Fiat ecu scan what else would i need in relation of leads and stuff.

I put an abarth cluster in my JTD a few days ago so I could see the kph markings better when driving abroad. Mileage was flashing but the Proxy Alignment function in FES solved it.

You need an ELM327 (version 1.3 or later) interface. The interface cable needs to be modified by connecting some pins together as described on Yani's forum, or you can use the adaptor cables from Gendan instead of modifying the cable.

It will, but it has (as mentioned) to have lower mileage than recorded in the BC/ECU. You can then proxy align, and keep driving with the lower mileage. I also installed an Abarth cluster in my 1.6 about 7 months ago, that started blinking the moment it was installed. It had been "driving" 5000 km less than the previous so a proxy sorted it.
