Technical Connect Nav+ Master code request

Technical Connect Nav+ Master code request

I haven't got round to trying any of them yet. The car has needed other more important work doing to it for the moment, but it is on my list.

You know you can still use the connect nav even though it's asking for a code (the radio and cd/mp3 player parts anyway)? If you power up the nav unit while the ignition is off you can use it properly, so you can use that to familiarize yourself with the layout of the menu's without it asking for it code. You just have to navigate blind while your driving and it's asking for the code, but I'm just living with it like that for now.

Hey all,

I just started fitting a CN+ unit to my 2004 Stilo Dynamic JTD and all was going swimmingly until the 12V ingition live was fitted.

Important point to note that the unit is already showing 9.8 in the blue start up screen.

Sadly the unit is now asking for the "Master Code" hence my post here. Yellow

Flashing the firmware with v9.8 bypasses the need for a code but you have to re-flash it if you remove and refit the unit.

Well I tried the dealer today and after speaking to a useless bimbo in the service centre I realised I wasn't going anywhere, perhaps I should have explained to her what a car is.... Moral of the story, don't go to Vospers Plymouth for anything complicated!

Anyway does anyone have a helpful dealer who has attained the Mastercode for a second hand Connect Nav previously?

I am away for the next week and will badger Fiat in the meantime but if no change then I guess its flash time next weekend! I wanted to avoid it as if I ever remove the Parrot it will require flashing again!

Here's a link to download the 9.8 update. You need to burn it onto a good quality, blank CD-R at slow speed.

https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?do=download&downloadid=420

Here's the update procedure:

NB All stored contacts, and trip info. etc. will be lost once this update starts.

You must follow the instructions exactly as follows:
  1. Remove the SIM Card and any CD from the CN+.
  2. Turn on the CN+ unit and clear any error messages using the “ESCAPE” button.
  3. Insert the update disc and wait for the unit to display “CD Error” on the screen. Press the “ESCAPE” button to clear this message.
  4. Turn off the CN+ unit by pressing the “ON” button.
  5. Remove the ignition key and then wait 30 seconds.
  6. With the ignition key still removed, switch on the CN+ by pressing the “ON” button.
  7. The update procedure will begin. Ensure that the CN+ is not switched off during this procedure! The update may stop for a few moments at 50%, this is normal. When completed, the FIAT logo will appear on the screen and the CD will automatically be ejected. Remove the CD.
  8. Switch the CN+ unit off using the “ON” button.
When you switch the CN+ back on, it should show 9.8 in the bottom right hand corner of the blue Fiat screen.

After you've updated the firmware to 9.8, the language of the CN+ will have reverted to Italian. To change it back to English, you will need the setup disc.

Here's a link to the setup disc. You need to burn it onto a good quality, blank CD-R at slow speed. Do not use the same disc you used for the 9.8 update.

https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?do=download&downloadid=417

Here's the procedure to change the language:
  1. Switch the ignition (and CN+ if it doesn't come on with the ignition) on.
  2. As soon as the CN+ starts, insert the setup CD and allow the unit to boot up automatically.
  3. Press "SETUP" then "Language" to change the language.
What if you have 11. version of firmware? Do you need the master key? If no, do you need it if you disconect the battery?

Thanks

My navi+ is not working yet. I just bought one, now i need to install it, but i already know that i do not have a code, and that there is a 11 version on.

Can i flash to 9.8 version if i already have a 11 version instaled? And then back on 11.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks again(y)

I got a 2nd hand unit from a breakers yard, fitted it to the car and was asked for a master code. I have spoken to my local Fiat dealer they gave me the code, however this did not work,. The technician advised that this might not work because its tied to the ECU of the original car. Is he having me over, Or this true? If so is there a way round it?

Thanks

thanks updated with 9.8 firmware system is now working brilliant thank you for the help, however I have an attached cd changer that has red lights indicating cd's are in the changer but the head unit has the message no cd'd can you advise

Hiya, Just got a stilo with the sat nav asking for master code....( battery change before sale) needless to say I am broke so not heading anywhere near a fiat dealer. Where do I find the serial number? how do I access it?:p also, as i have read... can I just update to 9.8 to avoid the issue altogether of getting to serial number, as im pretty sure its the sat nav from the original same car :) then maybe update again to 11.0? also, newbie question, i gather i have to have a sat nav+ with full colour screen and not a red and grey one?
thanks for the help guys (y)

ok, minor update, as it mentioned the mastercode was only needed when key is in and turned slightly... i tried the on button while off, and hey presto i got most functions up :) but wont save date or time? although once engine has started back to mastercode request. also i have mucked around with functions, and saw a vast pink section near consumption and trip data... ( how to use the miles left in tank function? mine was blank) this means i have full satnav+ yea? also, saw a 9.7 verison on start up screen.... so am i good to update to 9.8, then 11? and bypass the mastercode request altogether?

The CN+ will only ask for the code once the ignition is switched on.

Setting the date and time, and displaying the trip data will also only work when the ignition is switched on.

The first picture below is a Connect Nav. Second picture is a Connect Nav+
